Overview
About Alleppey
Alleppey, officially Alappuzha, is the gateway to Kerala's backwaters. The town sits at the confluence of Vembanad Lake and a dense network of canals stretching for hundreds of kilometres. Every August the Nehru Trophy Snake Boat Race draws thousands of spectators, but throughout the year houseboats drift quietly past paddy fields, coir factories, and centuries-old temples. Most Kerala houseboat cruises depart from the town jetty here.
