What you get on a Premium houseboat
Full-time bedroom AC
On a Premium boat the bedroom AC is available on demand from check-in to check-out. On Deluxe boats it runs only at night. This is the upgrade that matters most in the hot months, or if you plan to rest indoors during the afternoon.
Upgraded interiors
Premium bedrooms have better interiors, a more spacious dining area and a comfortable living area. Selected Premium boats also have an upper deck or an open viewing area.
A wider menu
The Premium menu includes Kerala, South Indian and North Indian dishes:
- Welcome drink: tender coconut, or fresh juice or lemon juice
- Lunch: rice, sambar, avial, thoran, mezhukkupuratti, karimeen (pearl spot) fish fry, curd, pappadam, pickle, salad and fruit
- Evening tea: cardamom tea or coffee with banana fritters and onion pakoda
- Dinner: chapathi or Kerala parotta, rice, dal fry, chicken roast or curry, paneer masala for vegetarian guests, a vegetable side dish, salad and curd
- Breakfast: idli with sambar and coconut chutney, appam with stew or egg curry, bread with butter and jam, and fresh fruit
Is Premium worth the extra?
Compare it with the full-time AC upgrade on a Deluxe boat, which costs ₹1,500 per bedroom per night:
- 1 bedroom: AC upgrade ₹1,500, Premium ₹3,000
- 2 bedrooms: AC upgrade ₹3,000, Premium ₹4,000
- 3 bedrooms: AC upgrade ₹4,500, Premium ₹5,000

On larger boats, Premium costs the same as or less than adding full-time AC to Deluxe, and you get the interiors and menu as well. On a 1-bedroom boat, the AC upgrade alone is the cheaper way to get daytime AC.
