For a couple
The private 1-bedroom boat is the one most couples book: the whole boat, captain and cook for two. Choose Premium for a honeymoon or anniversary — bedroom AC from check-in to check-out, tender coconut when you board and karimeen at lunch, for ₹3,000 more a night. Choose Deluxe if you will spend the afternoon on deck and only need AC at night. If the budget is tight, a private room on the sharing houseboat gives you the same route for ₹5,500. For a family
Count guests, not rooms. Each boat price covers two guests per bedroom, and up to four can share one for ₹750 per extra guest, so a family of four fits a 1-bedroom boat for ₹10,500 or a 2-bedroom boat for ₹13,000. Children up to 5 are free. Most families choose one bedroom per couple and let the children share. The family houseboat page works through families of 4 to 10.
For friends and large groups
Groups save the most by filling bedrooms. Twelve friends fit a 3-bedroom boat four to a room for ₹22,500, under ₹1,900 each. The houseboats for groups page has the per-head price for every group from 6 to 20. Larger parties can still stay together: we also book boats of 6 to 20 bedrooms.
For a short visit
If you only have a day, the 6-hour day cruise from 11:00 AM covers the same afternoon route as an overnight stay. If you only have a couple of hours, a houseboat is the wrong boat: a private shikara ride of 2 to 4 hours goes into canals the houseboats cannot enter.
For the hot months
From March to May, afternoons reach about 37°C. Book a Premium boat, where bedroom AC runs all day, or add full-time AC to a Deluxe bedroom for ₹1,500 a night.
