Best time to go
Early morning, when the lake is calm and the light is soft, or late afternoon before sunset. November to February is cool and dry; March to May is hot by midday.
Sun and spray
The boat is open, so expect sun on the way out and spray at speed. Bring sunglasses and a cap, and keep phones in a zipped pocket or a waterproof pouch.
Children and older guests
Children ride with an adult and wear a life jacket like everyone else. If anyone in your group is pregnant, has back trouble or would like a gentler ride, tell us when you book.
Rain
June to September is monsoon, with the heaviest rain from July. Heavy rain can stop rides on the lake. Cancellation terms are stated before you pay.

How much is a speedboat ride in Alleppey?

Is the price per person or per boat?
Per boat. The price covers up to 3 guests. The boat takes up to 7; for 4 to 7 guests, ask us on WhatsApp for the rate.
Where does the speedboat start?
Punnamada Finishing Point jetty, about 2.5 km from the Alappuzha KSRTC bus stand and 6.6 km from Alappuzha railway station. It is not the State Water Transport ferry jetty in town.
Is a speedboat ride safe for children?
Every guest wears a life jacket, and children ride with an adult. If you'd like a gentler ride for young children or older guests, tell us when you book.
Should I choose a speedboat or a shikara?
Choose the speedboat for speed and covering a lot of water in a short time. Choose a shikara for a slow, quiet ride through village canals about 5 feet wide; it takes up to 15 guests from ₹2,000 for 2 hours.
How do I book a speedboat ride?
Send us the ride, date, start time and group size on WhatsApp. Pay a 25% advance to hold the boat, and the balance at the jetty.
